Oprah gets apology for racist encounter
AP: Talk show host Oprah Winfrey says she encountered racism while shopping in Switzerland — and the national tourism office agrees.
The media mogul, who is one of the world’s richest women, told the U.S. program “Entertainment Tonight” that a shop assistant in Zurich refused to show her a handbag because it was “too expensive” for her.
Forbes magazine estimates that Winfrey earned $77 million in the year ending in June.

Perhaps Don Lemon will tell her to speak proper English, go to school and that she should dress sensibly. Do something with your life Oprah! This was your fault. Also, stop saying nigga. I bet you call Gayle “your nigga” all the time. How do you expect to shop at high end stores and expect to be treated like a human being when you say nigga? Racism is so passé.
PS, single moms. Single moms are partially to blame for this somehow. Is there surveillance footage of this encounter? Maybe Oprah was sagging her pants. Single moms and sagging pants strike again. Figures.

And this is why I’ll always say that race, in many ways, is a stronger indicator of how you’ll be treated than class. No matter how wealthy (or educated or successful) you are a white person (no matter their standing… this person was just a worker in a clothing store) can still treat you less than.

Preach!

17. Oprah (The Media Queen)
Oprah’s timeless, classic fashions makes her a celebrity style icon amongst women. She wears styles that are for real women, and clothing that would compliment most figures. The fashion pieces Oprah wears can be mixed and matched to make several different outfits. Oprah’s fashion choices are versatile, and many styles could go from day to evening with a change of accessories. Oprah wore a classic black ruffle shirt with a pencil skirt on her show celebrating Dr. Phil’s 1,000th episode. The pieces Oprah wore in this show are great worn together, or they can be mixed-and matched to make several different, classic outfits. The shirt can be worn with black jeans or slacks, and the skirt has endless wardrobe possibilities. The high heel shoes Oprah wore are sexy, and the perfect complement to this outfit. Christian Louboutin is one of Oprah’s favorite shoe designers. A basic earring and watch with a black band is all that is needed for this timeless look on Oprah, a true celebrity style icon.
